We were too eager to eat and we forgot to take photos! Gosh…..

Menu today is

1) Stir Fry Celery

2) Steamed Tilapia with Soy Sauce

3) Watercress Soup

I am a lousy food/cook blogger. More eager to eat than take photos.

This is the recipe I followed with slight modification. 

Steamed Tilapia


1 large tilapia, about 800 g. (Mine is about 300g. Cost me $3.70, 79 cents per 100g)
1 Tbsp. of julienned ginger (aside from the flavor, ginger gets rid of the fishy smell) (I used 2 out of 4 pieces of ginger I bought, I was afraid of fishy smell. Love ginger)

plenty of crushed garlic (Only 2 cloves of garlic)
3 to 4 tbsp. light soy sauce (3 tablespoon for sauce, 1 tablespoon for rubbing on fish)
1 tbsp. citus juice (calamansi, lemon or lime) (I bought Lemon Pepper Seasoning instead)
freshly cracked black pepper (Not a big fan of black pepper)
1 tbsp. of sesame oil (Yup, for sauce only)
finely sliced onion leaves for garnish (Chinese parsley instead)

I made separate sauce.

dashes of sesame oil
3 tablespoon light soya sauce
tiny bit of water to melt 1 teaspoon of sugar
1 teaspoon approx of fish sauce


  1. Boil plenty of water in a steamer.
  2. Slash (score) the fish (see tips).
  3. Stuff the cavity with half of the garlic and ginger, and some pepper.
  4. Rub half of the soy sauce and citus juice lemon pepper seasoning all over and inside (the cavity from where the intestines have been removed) the fish.
  5. Lay the fish on a heatproof metal dish. Pour the separately made sauce and citrus juice over and around it. Sprinkle the remaining garlic and ginger. Crack more black pepper over it.
  6. Steam over briskly boiling water for about 20 minutes.
  7. Garnish with Chinese Parsley.

Watercress Soup


Approx 500g Big Bones
Approx 1.5 litres of water
1 bundle of Watercress (usually 200g)
10 red dates (seedless)
A handful of Wolfberries
Rock sugar and Salt to taste
